A Beginner's Guide to Bible Journaling ✨
Using the “Blooming in the Bible” Set from Mr. Pen
Have you ever wanted to start Bible journaling but didn’t know where to begin? If so, you're in the right place. Whether you're a first-time journaler or just looking to refresh your quiet time routine, this guide will walk you through everything you need to get started—with a little help from the Mr. Pen “Blooming in the Bible” Stationery Set.
Bible journaling is such a fun and creative way to connect with Scripture, reflect on what God is teaching you, and make time in the Word more personal. And don’t worry—you don’t have to be an artist to enjoy it!
Let’s dive in. 🎨📖
Step 1: Gather the Right Tools
First things first: having the right Bible and stationery makes all the difference. In today’s journaling session, I used a Hosanna Revival journaling Bible—these are beautiful and perfect for note-taking, with wide margins and easy-to-read fonts.
Now for the fun part—stationery! The Blooming in the Bible set from Mr. Pen includes everything you need to get started:
-
✒️ No-bleed pens
-
🌈 Soft chisel highlighters
-
📝 Transparent sticky notes
-
🕊️ Bible tabs
-
🎀 Washi tape
-
✝️ Transparent stickers
-
…and so much more.
Not only are these products Bible-safe, but they also coordinate in the prettiest color palette. It’s all designed to make your pages look beautiful, cohesive, and meaningful.
Step 2: Choose Your Passage
Once you’ve got your tools, choose a Scripture passage you’d like to reflect on. Today, I journaled through Psalm 96—a beautiful chapter full of praise and truth.
Start by simply reading the passage. Take your time. Don’t rush.
Step 3: Highlight Key Verses
As you read, use your highlighters to mark the verses that speak to your heart. I like to choose colors based on themes—joy, hope, conviction, comfort. This step helps you visually engage with the text and makes it easier to return to those verses later.
Step 4: Reflect + Respond
Once you’ve read through and highlighted, it’s time to reflect. What is God showing you? What stood out? What do you feel He’s speaking to your heart?
This is where Mr. Pen’s transparent sticky notes come in handy. I love jotting down thoughts, questions, or insights directly on the sticky note and placing it right on the page. Don’t worry about getting it perfect—this is your space to grow.
Prefer to write directly in your Bible? Go for it! I often write with pen in the margins because it gives me more room and lets me add some creativity too. I even like adding a little hand-lettering or simple designs—just like I did with the word Jesus on today’s page.
Step 5: Add Stickers + Creative Touches
The set comes with transparent Bible stickers that add extra flair to your journaling. These are perfect for adding a visual element without covering the words of Scripture. All the stickers match beautifully with the color scheme of the set.
You can also doodle (like my not-so-perfect earth drawing—it's okay, I promise!), layer with washi tape, or use tape to create your own bookmarks. There’s no wrong way to do this.
A Reminder for Beginners 💛
If you're just starting out, remember this: Bible journaling isn’t about perfection. It’s about connection. You don’t need fancy handwriting or art skills—just a heart that wants to grow in God’s Word.
Start small. Start simple. Your journaling journey will look different from anyone else's, and that’s the beauty of it.
