Unmerited Favor – by Sophia Kirk

Unmerited Favor – by Sophia Kirk

It isn’t fair that Paul zealously arrested & killed Christians, yet he became one of the greatest missionaries & writers of the New Testament.

It isn’t fair that David committed adultery with Bathsheba & orchestrated the death of her husband, & yet he is remembered as a man after God’s own heart.

It isn’t fair that Peter denied Jesus three times, & yet he became a foundational leader of the early church.

It isn’t fair that the thief on the cross lived a sinful life, but in his final moments, professed faith in Jesus, & now gets to spend eternity with Christ in paradise.

And it certainly isn’t fair that a wretch like me could deny the very existence of the Creator, only to be pursued, saved, & used by Him for His purposes.

If God dealt with us based on what we deserve, none of us could stand before Him.

But God does not treat us as our sins deserve. Instead, He offers us unmerited favor through our faith in Jesus Christ.

So no, it’s not fair in human terms, but I’m thankful that God is not bound by human fairness.

God's justice & grace are perfectly met in Christ.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
